As I write this, I’m about to open Elephant’s Graveyard with Seat of the Pants! I’ve admired this company’s work for years and I’m excited to finally be working with them. In addition to playing the Guitarist, I’m serving as the music director and composer for the project! It features an original score which I devised over the course of the rehearsal process, with a huge assist from my prodigious drummer friend Jaiden Willis. I wrote about my experience composing for the show on the Seat of the Pants blog, where you can also hear a demo of the song that opens the show. We run February 6-22, and you can get your tickets at this link!

On February 13 (in the middle of the Elephant’s Graveyard run), you can find me instead downtown at The Hermit Club (inside HofbrĂ€uhaus) for Micro Theatre Cleveland’s A Microdose of Love! It features 12 short pieces by nine local playwrights, and I’m in two of them. In one, I play a dog with no lines (thank god). I’ll also be tickling the ivories before the show begins đŸŽč Get your tickets for that here!

This summer, I’m headed to Clague Playhouse to play Warren in Ordinary Days! I did this role at Cassidy Theatre all the way back in 2021 during the pandemic; it was a “virtual production” which was filmed live (with no audience) and streamed for a few weekends. I was amazed by what we were able to make happen in these circumstances, but I had so much fun that I wished we could have done the show for a live audience. Five years later, I’m getting the chance to do exactly that with some of my favorite artists in Cleveland! You can learn more and get your tickets here.

If you weren’t one of the 24 folks who got to see the site-specific world premiere of David Hansen’s The Right Room at last summer’s BorderLight festival, good news: it is being remounted at convergence-continuum for one weekend only, October 29-31! The play is a complex, intimate, and deeply personal examination of family histories, how we understand ourselves, and how we connect (or sometimes fail to connect) with one another. Tickets available here!

Finally there is Future Perfect, a band / concept album / musical / ??? co-written with my friend David L. Munnell (his lyrics, our music). It’s sort of a cross between a concept album and a theatre piece, using the life of Yuri Gagarin as a jumping-off point to explore a story about lost love and moving past heartbreak. We use an eclectic mix of rock styles, drawing inspiration from Bowie, Queen, Spiritualized, Radiohead, Hedwig, and many more. Our singles “Liftoff!” and “Call to Action” are now available on Spotify (boooo), Apple Music, and wherever else you listen—look us up, or find all our links at linktr.ee/thefutureisperfect. We premiered the project Summer 2024 at the BorderLight Festival in Playhouse Square
and a big announcement about the project is coming in the next month or so. If you like what you hear, consider joining our mailing list to stay up to date!

P.S. This last one is kind of off-topic, but I made a video game! It’s called XORBIUS, and it releases exclusively for the Playdate handheld on February 10 đŸ’«
